In 2011 the biggest TV news stories of the year involved Charlie Sheen. Firstly ranking at number 2 was Charlie Sheen being fired from Two and Half Men.
NineMSN.com.au claimed “Charlie had been getting into scrapes for years, "scrapes" being a polite euphemism for "drugs and porn stars", but Two and a Half Men bosses reached the end of their rope in 2011. In January Charlie went into rehab (again), in February the sitcom's eighth season was ended early when he publicly attacked series co-creator Chuck Lorre, and in March he was finally, officially fired from the show.”

Many professional and celebrities know how to take a good care of their personal brand. But not everyone...Charlie Sheen’s erratic and self-destructive attitude over the past few years has led to him gaining a tarnished bad reputation and image.

We can learn four vital branding lessons from Charlie Sheen on how to revive your personal brand.
Firstly, recognise that your existing reputation and brand may not be ideal and inadvertently be sabotaging your professional profile and career potential. Hopefully your behaviour is mild in comparison to Charlie’s.
Secondly, decide to change your brand image. Charlie decided to chuck his old image from a playboy and alcoholic to a healthier and family-focussed father. The star spoke about his celebrity roast on Comedy Central, calling it a new beginning in his life and career. It’s interesting to note that sometimes it takes a roasting to bring about change.
Between his Comedy Central Roast, his sudden clean image and taking his career seriously - it appears that all the pawns have fallen into exact the right places for him to be able to convince potential buyers that he's reformed and not a liability!
Thirdly, ask for forgiveness. Charlie apologised for his public behaviour and told ET Radio Show’s he was moving into a brand new chapter of his life after his much-publicised erratic behaviour over the past year.
Fourthly, decide to star in a new role. Charlie was reportedly returning to TV as the star of a sitcom version of Adam Sandler’s 2003 film ‘Anger Management’. Charlie sees this character as a challenge that might be a stretch for him to play a guy with serious anger management. A little like be before you are and you will become.
