What is Kim Kardashian famous for? The fact is there isn’t exactly one answer to that question.
Kim’s first introduction into the spotlight was as a child. She is one of the daughters of Robert Kardashian who aided in defence in the highly publicised and controversial criminal trial of OJ Simpson. Since the trial and her father’s death, Kim’s mother remarried former Olympic Gold Medallist Bruce Jenner. Growing up in a privileged family, Kim became a well known socialite famously befriending heiress Paris Hilton. During this introduction into the Hollywood scene, Kim experienced her first taste of negative publicity in the form of a homemade adult video. After finally confessing her involvement in the video, it actually acted as a self-promotional video and in turn, raised her media profile.
Although Kim Kardashian first became known as a partying socialite, the entire Kardashian family then proceeded to become involved in a reality television show. The E! reality series produced by Ryan Seacrest, was in turn an ultimate success. The show, titled ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ launched the entire family into overnight fame. There has since been several spin off shows which follow different members of the Kardashian family. The main purpose of the shows are to give viewers an insider’s peek into the glamorous, family orientated life of the Jenner’s and Kardashians.
The success of the show meant that Kim was truly living the Hollywood lifestyle. Many brands recognised her branding potential and instantly cashed in on her success. Kim has since started on numerous shows such as Dancing with the Starts, had had minor roles in movies such as Disaster Movie and Deep in the Valley. Kim is now a producer of another E! reality series, The Spin Crowd. Since then, Kim has also expanded from television and modelled for Playboy, Sketchers and Carls Jr. The entire ‘Kardashian’ brand includes both fashion and jewellery lines, perfumes, fitness videos and supplements. Kim also owns a clothing store called Dash with her two sisters Kourtney and Khloe.
The majority of Kim Kardashians success is that she has had maximum exposure into the market. Whatever your opinion of the Kardashians we can all learn from their brand. We can recognise the importance of recognising your personal strengths and ‘branding yourself.’ Kim now has an extremely loyal fan base, and this will continue to grow as she remains consistent and appealing in all of her publicity ventures.
