The definition of Olympian ranges from those that live on mount Olympus to those that compete in the Olympic games. However the broader term; majestic in manner, superior to mundane affairs and surpassing all others in scope and effect seems to be the most appropriate. Olympians are no doubt the best in their field though maintaining a success successful mindset is half the battle.
In John C. Maxwell’s book, Talent is Never Enough, John outlines 13 strategies to turn your talents into success. Olympians come and go, but the truly famous are rarely well known for their victory alone.

7. Perseverance sustains your talent

These 13 strategies are A-List Attributes of Olympians allow the elite in their field to be known, to nurture and define their field with their talent, to not fade away into the millions of talented people that are also out there. Olympians know the meaning of talent, of that there is no doubt and will use these thing to hone their talents to even attend the Olympics let alone get the gold. Many athletes will use their Olympic status to create successes outside of their field to survive when their sporting career is finished.
Catherine Freeman has grown only more popular since her Olympic glory. After winning numerous medals and awards for her talent she then decided to use it to bolster her passion – giving back to the community. In 2003 she retired, 2006 release a biographical Documentary; Cos I’m free, she featured in two series of the lonely Planet special and then released; Born to Run, an autobiography. Cathy has since established the Catherine Freeman Foundation. A Foundation to help Indigenous girls achieve their dreams through sport and education to provide a social change. Though she isn’t the only one to use her sporting renown as a means to raise her profile.
Popular Johanna Griggs represented Australia in swimming; in 1990 she won a Bronze at the Auckland Commonwealth Games and the next year, a silver at the world championships. She retired in 1993 and joined the world of television. She reported for various sports related shows such as; Sportsworld, the AFL half time show, Seven’s Summer of Tennis and many more before becoming the networks first female sports presenter. Johanna Griggs now hosts Better Homes and Gardens as she has since 2005. The show is in its 18th season and is Australia’s most popular lifestyle program.
In business you too must surpass all others in scope and affect, you must be majestic and superior, you must be Olympian. Talent is something you alone can provide though luckily help is out there to translate that into success.
