The rewards are worth it.
Registering to be a volunteer Jump the Q staff member gives you the chance to: be a part of the behind-the-scenes action at Jump the Q events. You will: - Learn teamwork and leadership skills,
- Network with other volunteers who are like-minded Jump the Q clients and friends,
- Experience Jump the Q’s unique training in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
How does volunteer staffing work? Each Jump the Q event needs a staff of between two and ten people. In addition, to our qualified and experienced staff, we invite Jump the Q fans to volunteer to help us to create the ambience of each event. These volunteers contribute in a meaningful way to the success of each event. Who can volunteer? Staffing at Jump the Q events is usually reserved for graduates and previous participants of our programs; however, if you have not staffed before, we invite you to apply for one of our 2 1/2 hour events. After some experience and training, you’ll be eligible to apply for longer events. We give priority to people who have staffed extensively with us before, or who are previous participants of the program they are wanting to staff on. Do I have to pay to staff on a program? Generally, no. You exchange your time and energy for the right to be at the program. You will get to see the speaker and hear the information for free. ^^Top What is the time commitment? Each program is different and the invitation you receive to staff an event will outline what is required of you at that specific event. Generally, we need you to be at the venue one to two hours prior to the start of the program and to stay at the venue right up until pack-up is complete (generally about one to two hours after the program ends, although on our bigger programs, pack-up can take more than two hours). Committing to staff an event means agreeing to be there for the entire time outlined in your invitation. Because punctuality is extremely important to the smooth flow of our events, we ask that you arrive at least five to ten minutes prior to the time we have requested you to be at the venue. Because we know everyone is very busy we keep our set-up timeframes very tight. What will I be doing as a volunteer? Your tasks for the event will depend on whether we know you and have worked with you on one of our teams in the past. Every volunteer staff member contributes in some very meaningful way to the success of the event, even if the tasks seem small. Who will I receive directions from? Each person is assigned a role and becomes part of a sub-team. Each sub-team has a team leader assigned to it. The Logistics Supervisor will initially brief you as a group. After this, you are asked to seek direction from your team leader. What benefits do I receive from staffing? When Jump the Q started, it was the company’s desire to ensure volunteers had a very clear and fair exchange from their experiences of staffing. We hope you receive good education and value from the experience. Some people come to staff on our programs just to find out how it is done. Others come for the ‘team work’ experience. It is different for each person. Will I see the seminar? It is always our intention that you see the majority of the seminar; however, sometimes we need tasks to be carried out outside the room while the seminar is running. Should this be a concern for you, you might consider attending the program as a participant rather than as a staff member. ^^Top What is the purpose of staffing? The purpose is to create a great educational event for participants. We intend to serve the participants in the best possible way so they can learn the information being provided. How do I apply? To apply, simply complete our contact form. We issue official staffing invitations two to four weeks prior to each program. Thank you for your interest. ^^Top |
